Most cost problems in AWS are not really billing problems, they are resource problems wearing a billing costume. An oversized EC2 fleet, a database still sized for a launch that ended months ago, storage sitting in an expensive tier when it should have been archived long ago. The invoice just reflects decisions made about actual infrastructure, and those decisions rarely get revisited once...
