Technology is changing the way companies build, manage and deliver software applications. A lot of companies are moving their applications to the cloud to get better performance, flexibility and ease of management. And so the people that understand containers and Kubernetes and cloud platforms are becoming more and more valuable. One technology that’s getting a lot of love in this space is Red Hat’s OpenShift. The platform is for both newbies and seasoned IT pros to learn how to develop and deploy modern applications.

Red Hat’s container-based application platform is OpenShift. It is built on Kubernetes, with some extra tooling to help developers and admins manage applications. “OpenShift allows you to manage containers, control resources, monitor workloads and improve your deployment processes, instead of having teams manually working on each application task.” This enables organizations to develop and operate applications across different infrastructure environments.

If you are looking to get into cloud computing / DevOps, then OpenShift could be a good move. But when you're learning something new and there's no one to show you the way, it can be a little confusing at first. There is a lot to learn, containers, images, pods, deployments, services, cluster management… A well designed OpenShift certification training helps the learners to understand these topics in a systematic way. They also link theory to practice.

Another important area you need to focus on when you are learning OpenShift is container management. Containers allow applications and all their dependencies to run together in a consistent environment. This enables development teams to build applications that are transportable from system to system. The learners will learn how the container images are built, stored and used while deploying application.  They will also be able to see how Kubernetes orchestrates the containers and maintains the application in the desired state.

Another concept of importance is to work with Openshift clusters.  A cluster is a group of resources to run/manage containerized applications.  It helps the learners to understand the nodes, pods, namespaces and workloads to get a feel of the platform structure.   These are concepts that are useful for people interested in roles such as application support, cloud administration and DevOps.  The more you practice, the easier these technical topics will come to you.

Practical experience is important for learning any IT technology.   Reading documentation and watching demos can be helpful, but working with the platform will give you a better understanding of how the different components interact with each other.   Learn how to deploy, configure, scale, and monitor applications with OpenShift training   They also learn to identify common mistakes and what needs to be done to correct them.   These activities build confidence to work in a real technical setting.

OpenShift also supports CI/CD.   Such approaches enable development teams to automate much of the software delivery process.   Learners can see how applications go from development to testing and then to deployment.   They can learn to automate workflows to eliminate repetitive tasks and speed up software releases.   This knowledge will be particularly useful for professionals who want to work in DevOps teams and modern software development processes.

Another area to consider when working with container platforms is security.   Organizations need to safeguard their applications, user data and infrastructure from potential threats.   With OpenShift, you control access, permissions and security policies.   Understanding these qualities will allow learners to comprehend the need to consider security during the development and deployment processes of an application.   It also gives them exposure to the responsibilities of running a healthy application environment.

The way you interact with your learning can also impact the overall experience.   Beginner should learn the basics of Linux commands, Networking and Containers.  These will give you a good foundation for learning the advanced features of the platform.  Once students have the basics down they can move on to cluster operations, application deployment, storage, networking and monitoring.  This way the learning is more comfortable and manageable, one topic at a time.

An Openshift certification course can help the learners prepare for the objectives of a professional certification.  You'll want to have a look at the main concepts and get a feel for how the platform works and practice the relevant technical tasks before you start the certification.  Learners should review the most current Red Hat certification requirements and exam information before selecting a path. Professionals need to solve problems more than they need to memorize technical definitions. So, practical knowledge matters.

Knowing OpenShift can help a lot of kinds of careers. DevOps Engineering, Cloud Administration, Container Platform Support, Kubernetes Administration, Application Deployment / Specific responsibilities will differ from one organization to another and from one job to another. People who know OpenShift, Linux, networking, scripting and cloud in combination may have better chances to find jobs in the tech industry.

Learning too fast is less important than learning consistently. Students can start with simple tasks like building a project, deploying a sample application, checking the application logs, and managing resources. The more they know, the more complex jobs they can handle. Security, storage, networking and automated deployment. Notes of commands and things for practical can be useful for review and troubleshooting.

Learning OpenShift is more than simply learning a new piece of software. It’s all about learning the technologies that are driving modern app development. Students can improve their technical skills little by little by practicing, being well instructed and open to try new ideas. If you are new to IT or wish to build on your existing knowledge then spending time in OpenShift can be a great way to get your head around cloud-native technologies and modern DevOps practices.
