What is BIS? BIS stands for the Bureau of Indian Standards. It is the national standards body of India. BIS works under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India. It was established under the BIS Act, 2016. The main purpose of BIS is to ensure that products sold in India meet quality and safety standards.
