PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Xbox One will launch at a locked 30 frames per second across all Xbox One devices, creator Brendan Greene confirmed via Twitter on December 1, 2017. The announcement marks a departure from an earlier statement that suggested the game would run at higher frame rates when it entered Xbox Game Preview.

In a follow-up interview with Games TM magazine, Greene explained that while the Xbox One X can 'definitely' reach 60 FPS, the base Xbox One was observed running at around 30 to 40 FPS. He noted the team 'may have to limit it at 30FPS' to ensure a consistent experience. This lock appears to be a deliberate measure to prevent competitive imbalance, as allowing 60 FPS on Xbox One X would give those players a significant performance advantage over original Xbox One and Xbox One S owners.

Greene reiterated in his tweet that the development team is 'constantly refining the game and exploring options to increase FPS,' but due to the early stage of development, they cannot confirm whether higher frame rates will be achievable. He also stated that 'we’re aiming for 60; not sure if we’ll get there, but that is our aim.' Despite the current cap, developers remain committed to improving performance and will continue to evaluate possibilities for the future.
