What is a Penstock Valve?
A Penstock Valve is a specially designed water control device used to start, stop, or isolate the flow of water in open channels and water management systems. It is commonly used where complete shut-off and reliable water control are required.
A Penstock Valve works by moving a gate plate up and down inside a frame. When the gate is in the fully closed position, it blocks the water passage and stops the flow. When the gate is lifted upward, the opening allows water to flow smoothly.
Penstock Valves are widely installed in dams, canals, water treatment plants (WTP), sewage treatment plants (STP/WWTP), reservoirs, irrigation systems, pumping stations, and hydropower projects.
